Medical disclaimer: Educational only—not diagnosis, prescription, or personalized dosing advice. Talk to a licensed clinician. Follow the current FDA / DailyMed Prescribing Information and Instructions for Use for your presentation. Label citations checked as of September 25, 2026—verify the live label.
Boxed warning (label theme): FDA-approved tirzepatide products carry a boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors observed in rodents. It is unknown whether tirzepatide causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans. People with a personal or family history of MTC or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN2) should review contraindications with a clinician and the official label. What this hub covers

Label-based dosing logistics

We paraphrase publicly available US label themes for starting dose, weekly schedule, titration steps, missed-dose windows, storage, and presentation differences—so you can ask better questions of your clinician.

Indication clarity

In the US, Mounjaro® is the Lilly brand of tirzepatide indicated for type 2 diabetes (see current label for full indication language, including any cardiovascular risk-reduction framing). Zepbound® is a separate Lilly brand for weight management / OSA populations. Same molecule—different brands and labeled uses. Do not DIY-switch brands.

Compounded ≠ Mounjaro®: Compounded tirzepatide preparations are not FDA-approved and are not Mounjaro® or Zepbound®. Never call compounded products “generic Mounjaro.” For a deeper comparison, see compounded vs Zepbound® on Tirzepatide Hub.
